In Scotland we celebrate Easter because Jesus was crucified and came alive.  The oval stone that blocked the entrance of the tomb that Jesus lay in rolled down the hill.  The stone was the same shape as an egg.  So we roll painted eggs down the hill.  You give chocolate eggs to your friends.  Easter also means new life.

In the winter, we celebrate Christmas when we give gifts and decorate trees.  At night on the day before Christmas a man called Santa, who delivers presents for us on Christmas day.

We celebrate bonfire night on the 5th of November each year.  The story of Bonfire night is that a man called Guy Fawkes was attempting to blow the houses of Parliament up with gun powder.  Guy Fawkes got captured and burnt on a stake.  So every year we celebrate by lighting fireworks and having a bonfire.  The houses of Parliament are still here today and are still used.
